The Intended Life
This weekend was spent in the mountains of Virginia with other NorthStar women at the Creatives Retreat.
It was great to have time to finish this poem I started about five years ago…
In the beginning,
God made Heaven and Earth.
Then with word spoken after word,
To all He gave birth.
In Heaven in time,
A rebellion broke out,
When Satan in his arrogance
God’s authority he did doubt.
God banished him from living
With pride on Heaven’s shore.
God said in His presence
He could live no more.
Corruption and revenge
Was now a way of life.
He eyed as God made Adam
And then Eve, his wife.
God’s newly formed creation
Became the perfect prey.
If he was to be banished forever,
He would make sure, so would they.
He tempted faith
And gave birth to doubt.
Through Eve’s lack of strength
His deception played out.
Yet, he misunderstood
God’s love for Man,
For from the beginning of time,
God had a different plan.
Death became the outcome
When evil came to Earth.
So, God trumped Satan’s plan
Creating a second birth.
Since Man wasn’t able
To live life extended,
God birthed the Son of Man
To show the life intended.
His desire to obey God
Led from teaching to the cross,
Because jealous leaders thought
Their power was worth His loss.
It was His choice to die
As a sacrifice for sin.
He asked His Father to forgive them,
And to the darkness He entered in.
The battle was fought
As God’s angels went to war.
Saving His Son from death’s clutches,
His people would die no more.
God recreated life
Resurrecting Jesus, His Son.
For those who trust in Him,
New life on Earth has begun.
As Jesus returned to Heaven
He promised us another.
He sent the Holy Spirit
To live unlike any other.
God’s Spirit dwells within us
To guide us in our days.
He teaches us God’s truth
And shows the errors of our ways.
This life is now available
For all those who believe.
We don’t have to wait for Heaven
To see God’s dream be achieved.
God’s desire is to live
In relationship with Man.
Through the presence of His Spirit
This intended life was His plan.
