October 29-November 4, 2023
Obedience is better than sacrifice. This is taught to us in 1 Samuel 15:22, "Does the Lord have as much delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than a sacrifice, And to pay attention is better than the fat of rams." Obedience should be our top priority. When we sacrifice for God we release something to the Lord that is valuable to us. When we obey God we do what He says do, surrendering our will to His. Obedience displays our priority and motives. What are the benefits of obedience? Let's reflect on these blessings this month as we explore the path of obedience. Obedience is through the Old and New Testament. This month we will use Psalm 119 as our anchor regarding the prosperity of obedience.
This week’s Bible Reading: Romans 5:18-20
Focus Verse:
“For as through the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the One the many will be made righteous” (Romans 5:19).
Prayer Prompts
Day 1: Restoration. We reflected on renewal earlier this month. Today think on restoration. How is it different from renew? It speaks more to being energized and rejuvenated. Obeying God brings restoration. How can you experience more restoration in your life?
Day 2: Understanding. The process of comprehension; personal interpretation. How does obedience increase your understanding? Can you think of a personal example?
Day 3: Revival. An awakening. Think of a time when your experienced revival directly from your obedience to God?
Day 4: Strength. Focusing on your moral power, firmness and courage, how does God's word provide you strength?
Day 5: Truth. God's word is truth. Is it relative or absolute? Why do you believe what you do about truth? Is your belief connected to your obedience?
