April 21-27, 2024
We have now reached Easter for this year. He is Risen! Now let’s reflect on the gift the Father sent us after Jesus’ ascension. The person of the Holy Spirit is the gift. He is the helper, the comforter, advocate, and intercessor. Our goal over the next few weeks is to explore our relationship with Him and to endeavor to get to know Him better.
This week's Bible reading: Acts 13:44-52
Focus Verse: “And the disciples were continually filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit” (Acts 13:52)
Prayer Prompts
Day 1: This week’s Bible reading is about guidance and commissioning by the Holy Spirit. This guidance and commissioning is still given today by the Holy Spirit. Think of a time that you asked the Holy Spirit for guidance and He gave it. How often do you experience this result? Is there a barrier keeping you from undergoing His guidance more often? If so ask Him to remove it.
Day 2: When you receive guidance from the Holy Spirit are you quick to obey? Why or why not?
Day 3: The Holy Spirit grants us access to His power for various tasks that we are assigned. If He doesn’t empower us our efforts are useless. Can you remember a time that you embarked upon a well meaning task void of the commissioning of the Holy Spirit? What were the results?
Day 4: Recall a time that you embarked upon a direct assignment of God full of the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. How were the results different from times you acted without His power?
Day 5: With guidance and commissioning comes joy and rejoicing. Rejoice with gratitude that the Holy Spirit chooses to fill you with His power. Give thanks that He is alive and active in you. If you find yourself lacking joy, take it as a sign that you are not yielding to the Spirit’s work in you. Repent. Turn and yield.
