April 14-20, 2024
We have now reached Easter for this year. He is Risen! Now let’s reflect on the gift the Father sent us after Jesus’ ascension. The person of the Holy Spirit is the gift. He is the helper, the comforter, advocate, and intercessor. Our goal over the next few weeks is to explore our relationship with Him and to endeavor to get to know Him better.
This week's Bible reading: Acts 4:29-31
Focus Verse: “And when they had prayed, the place where they had gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak the word of God with boldness.” (Acts 4:31)
Prayer Prompts
Day 1: This week’s Bible reading is about threats against Peter and John who continue to speak about Jesus despite being previously arrested and the continued threats against them. How could they continue to speak so boldly? You guessed it, the Holy Spirit. Verse 31 tells us that they prayed and were filled with the Holy Spirit. It’s established that the Holy Spirit resides in you. Yet, we leak and need to filled daily with Him so that we can serve and speak with boldness. In what areas are you experiencing timidity? Pray that the Holy Spirit will fill you so that you can boldly speak God’s word and complete your assigned tasks.
Day 2: Remember we leak. Therefore, we should ask daily to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Did you ask to be filled today? If not, take a minute to ask. If you have asked today, give Him thanks for being faithful to answer your prayer.
Day 3: So now that we have established the need to ask daily to be filled and comply, what if we do not feel filled? Glad you asked! We won’t always feel filled. But we know that we are filled because He tells us so. Therefore, we walk be faith paying attention to the ways that He directs us in speech and action each day. This relationship is a miracle, a gift. While we benefit, it is for His glory and accordance to His master plan. Thank Him that you don’t have to know all the answers. Ask Him to help you obey His word and His leading.
Day 4: Being filled with the Spirit allows His presence to fill your entire life. He is a gentleman and won’t storm the house. You have to give Him access to every room. What rooms are you not allowing Him access to? Why are you keeping these spaces away from Him? Release them to Him if you are ready.
Day 5: Power and Purpose. The Holy Spirit fills us with power to comprehend the incomprehensible, to complete our assignments, and to live pure lives. Reflect on the ways that you have seen Him at work in your life. Identify a time that He filled you with knowledge and understanding, empowered you to complete a task and gave you victory over sin. Thank Him for His transformative work in your life.
