February 11-17, 2024
Jesus said “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me (John 10:7). There are many voices that are competing for our ears these days. How can we possibly hear God? It takes intention. Let’s refer to this intention as Listening Prayer. Set aside some quiet time when you can focus, 3, 15, or more minutes. Take a few deep breaths. Read a verse or passage of scripture and then be silent. Sit in this silence for 3, 15 or more minutes. Record what God places on your heart. Maybe use one color for God’s words and another for your thoughts and responses.
This week's Bible reading: Colossians 3:1-14
Focus Verse: “bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so must you do also (Colossians 3:13).”
Prayer Prompts (Forgiveness)
Day 1: Say out loud, “And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father who is in heaven will also forgive you for your offenses (Mark 11:25).” Set your timer for 3, 15, or more minutes and listen for His voice. Record what you hear by cell phone or in a notebook.
Day 2: Say out loud, “For if you forgive other people for their offenses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive other people, then your Father will not forgive your offenses (Matthew 6:14-15).” Set your timer for 3, 15, or more minutes and listen for His voice. Record what you hear by cell phone or in a notebook.
Day 3: Say out loud, “Be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you (Ephesians 4:32).” Set your timer for 3, 15, or more minutes and listen for His voice. Record what you hear by cell phone or in a notebook.
Day 4: Say out loud, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous, so that He will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).” Set your timer for 3, 15, or more minutes and listen for His voice. Record what you hear by cell phone or in a notebook.
Day 5: Say out loud, “Be on your guard! If your brother sins, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. And if he sins against you seven times a day, and returns to you seven times, saying, ‘I repent,’ you shall forgive him (Luke 17:3-4).” Set your timer for 3, 15, or more minutes and listen for His voice. Record what you hear by cell phone or in a notebook.
