March 10-16, 2024

As we approach Easter at the end of this month, we recognize that this is a season about preparing our hearts to hear from God.

Maybe you have never prayed before. Maybe you have not made a habit of reading the Bible. Maybe you have never practiced Lent before this season. Maybe you regularly do all three - we are simply asking that He speak in new ways. We are all coming from different places but God has something to say to each of us as individuals.

Here is your invitation: Take time to study the Scriptures that reflect Jesus' ministry, His death, and His resurrection for the next four weeks. Take 15-20 mins of your day to read these verses, reflect, and pray. We will have some additional challenges at the end of each week. You can choose to do all of them or just try one for the first time. We are praying for you as you embark on this experience.

This week's Bible reading: John 4:1-42

Focus Verse: “Jesus answered and said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again; but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never be thirsty; but the water that I will give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up to eternal life”( John 4:13-14).

Prayer Prompts

Day 1: What was happening with this woman? What was her plight? What was her need? Pray and confess some of your questions from your life? Let Jesus know what hinders you from worship, your community, and your growth in Him.

Day 2: Throughout this passage, Jesus sees this woman’s pain. He doesn’t judge or condemn her. He doesn’t even call out her sin. He simply tells her that He sees her needs and her pain. Ask Jesus to speak to you about your pain. What does He say? Look at the description Jesus gives about living water (John 4:13-14). Meditate on those verses today.

Day 3: What ways do you feel disconnected from your community? What are the barriers? Ask God in prayer to show you how to overcome those barriers.

Day 4: The woman says, “He told me everything I ever did!” What is your moment with Jesus where you realized He knows you full well? Thank Him for revealing the truth to you. If you haven’t had that moment yet, ask Him to dialogue with you today.

Day 5: The last verses indicate the entire town was impacted by this woman’s testimony - before they even saw Jesus for themselves. What is a testimony you have that you can share with others? Pray about how to tell it in a way that others will see Christ.

Challenge: Go and tell your story to someone in your community. What happens? Testify about it!
