March 17-23, 2024

As we approach Easter at the end of this month, we recognize that this is a season about preparing our hearts to hear from God. 

Maybe you have never prayed before. Maybe you have not made a habit of reading the Bible. Maybe you have never practiced Lent before this season. Maybe you regularly do all three - we are simply asking that He speak in new ways. We are all coming from different places but God has something to say to each of us as individuals. 

Here is your invitation: Take time to study the Scriptures that reflect on Jesus' ministry, His death, and His resurrection for the next four weeks. Take 15-20 mins of your day to read these verses, reflect, and pray. We will have some additional challenges at the end of each week. You can choose to do all of them or just try one for the first time. We are praying for you as you embark on this experience. 

This week's Bible reading: Psalm 144

Focus Verse: “Praise be to the Lord my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle” (Psalm 144:1).

Prayer Prompts

Day 1: Think about a time you visited a beach or a mountainside with rock formations. Declare God’s glory in a prayer of praise for that beauty.

Day 2: Read verses 1-5. Take a moment to write down these names for God. For each one, write a response to how God is your fortress, stronghold, deliverer, shield, refuge, and the One who subdues others on your behalf. Did you find any ways that other things/people are substitutes for Him in those areas? 

Day 3: Read verses 6-10. Name your enemy this week - it could be a person, situation, or circumstance. Ask God to shatter it with lightning, scatter it, and shoot arrows at it! 

Day 4: Read verses 11-15. Write this out on a piece of paper. "Daughter, you are a pillar carved out to adorn a palace. God is going to fill your barn with his provision. Blessed are you whose God is the Lord!" 

Day 5: Take a walk in silence today and reflect on what you read. Give God time to speak to you about it. Dialogue with Him - He is your ROCK! 

Challenge: Reach out to someone this week (by phone or in person if possible) who is in a battle and pray Psalm 144 over them!
