November 26-December 2, 2023

Obedience is better than sacrifice. This is taught to us in 1 Samuel 15:22, "Does the Lord have as much delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than a sacrifice, And to pay attention is better than the fat of rams." Obedience should be our top priority. When we sacrifice for God we release something to the Lord that is valuable to us. When we obey God we do what He says do, surrendering our will to His. Obedience displays our priority and motives. What are the benefits of obedience? Let's reflect on these blessings this month as we explore the path of obedience. Obedience is through the Old and New Testament. This month we will use Psalm 119 as our anchor regarding the prosperity of obedience.

This week’s Bible Reading: Amos 5:22-27

Focus Verse:

But let justice roll out like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream (Amos 5:24).

Prayer Prompts

Day 1: Hope. Because of Him we live with God-centered expectations. He provides this hope through His word and we experience this hope because He is faithful. Recall a time when God exchanged despair in your life to hope because of your obedience. What was the result? How did it build your faith?

Day 2: Friendship. Did you know that only those who obey God enjoy His friendship? How close are you? How can you get closer?

Day 3: Held up. Supported. He bears our loads when we release them. Do you have things you need to let go of? What is holding you back? You can trust Him with handling those issues/concerns.

Day 4: Confidence. You can put your full trust in God and His word. He is reliable. When you apply His word you experience victory. Are you lacking confidence? How can you change your low confidence?

Day 5: Salvation. Protection from harm and the power and penalty of sin. Redemption. It is our faith in Him and His word wherein we find eternal salvation. He also saves us daily from the  attacks of the enemy when we walk in obedience. What can you do differently to experience the daily salvation of the Lord?

How was it? Psalm 119 is rich. Did you use the prayer page to meditate further on the path of obedience? I might not say it enough but journaling is an excellent tool to help document our faith and to help us remember His faithfulness towards us. We would love to know how your journey went.Connect with us on Instagram @nswomensnet and/or my personal page @aworthylif.
