December 3-9, 2023

Advent is a term that means a period of time of expectant waiting and preparation for the coming of Christ. In this season of Advent, we are expectantly waiting and preparing for Jesus’ return. For the next four weeks, reflect with us upon Jesus’ birth and prepare your hearts for Jesus’ return. We will journey with Hope, Peace, Joy and Love.

This week’s Bible Reading: Jeremiah 33

Focus Verse:

“‘Behold, days are coming,’ declares the Lord, ‘when I will fulfill the good word which I have spoken concerning the house of Israel and the house of Judah. In those days and at that time I will cause a righteous Branch of David to spring forth; and He shall execute justice and righteousness on the earth” (Jeremiah 33:14-15).

Day 3: Hope. First coming: The Jews were looking for the ultimate leader, a king. In what ways did Jesus fulfill this desire? Second coming: In what ways will Jesus show himself as the ultimate leader when He returns?

Day 4: Hope. First coming: Reflect on a time when the Jewish kingdoms were divided. Did Jesus’ first coming bring unity to the Jewish kingdom? Second coming: How do you think Jesus’ return will unify the Jewish people?

Day 5: Hope. First coming: How do you think the Jewish people found hope in the Jesus’ death on the cross? Second coming: As you anticipate Jesus’ return, how can you hope in death? How will Jesus’ return affect earthly death?
