April 7-13, 2024
We have now reached Easter for this year. He is Risen! Now let’s reflect on the gift the Father sent us after Jesus’ ascension. The person of the Holy Spirit is the gift. He is the helper, the comforter, advocate, and intercessor. Our goal over the next few weeks is to explore our relationship with Him and to endeavor to get to know Him better.
This week's Bible reading: Acts 4:1-10
Focus Verse: “Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them,” (Acts 4:8a)
Prayer Prompts
Day 1: This week's verses are about when Peter and John were arrested for the work that the Holy Spirit did through them. Read verse 8a again. What do you notice? Peter had an important component, he was filled with the Holy Spirit. If someone asked you if you were filled with the Holy Spirit, what would your response be?
Day 2: Some people distinguish the Holy Spirit taking up residence at conversion from being filled with the Holy Spirit. What are your thoughts on that? What scripture comes to mind to support your conclusions?
Day 3: Context is everything and this week we are looking at the power of the Holy Spirit that flows out of the Believer. So in connection with the question posed on Day 1, have you experienced the power that comes from being filled with the Holy Spirit? How does it differ from when you respond/act separate from Him?
Day 4: Identify a situation that has occurred in your life that you know was a work of the Holy Spirit in your life. Thank Him for His work through you. If you have time, write out your thanks (letter, poem, or song).
Day 5: Ask the Holy Spirit to show you a time that you responded without His power. Ask Him to forgive you for not yielding to His work and power. Ask Him to help you to yield and walk in step with Him.
