August 25-31, 2024
This month, we are going to take time to reflect on our Manna Moments.
I have been off for the month of July recovering from a recent surgery. Forced rest is not my preferred activity but I truly felt God's hand upon this surgery - it was fully approved by my insurance, I was out of the hospital faster than expected, I have healed faster than expected, I needed less pain meds than expected, and I have rested better than expected. Hallelujah!
I think the reason why everything went so well was because of what I think I heard God say before my surgery about His manna and because of the prayers of my community. I have learned that God is STILL in the business of healing His people.
What I think I heard God say before my surgery was through a personal devotional I read on manna and two other devotionals I was sent by others on the same topic. I had never really reflected on my own Manna Moments before and now I can't get them off of my mind. I hope the same thing happens for you as you work through these prayer prompts this month.
This week's Bible reading: Revelation 2:12-17
Focus Verse: " He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, to him I will give some of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, and a new name written on the stone which no one knows but he who receives it..” (Revelation 2:17))
Prayer Prompts
Day 1: This church was commended for remaining true to God's name. What ways would you say you did that this week?
Day 2: What challenges would cause you to renounce your faith? (Think of the deconstructing faith model that many younger believers are acting on in modern Christianity) What would help you hold on tight?
Day 3: This church is criticized for sin, sacrifices, and sex. What would your letter read about your vices?
Day 4: If Jesus came back today, how would he find you? In His favor? Struggling? Hurting? Be honest with him in prayer and share those needs today.
Day 5: To the one who is victorious, God will give hidden manna. Ask God to show you what that hidden manna might be today.
Challenge: Jesus is our portion and our Bread of Life. Press into Him. Invite Him to speak. Give Him your whole heart. We started this month with the question, "What is it?" Now, answer the question, "Am I all in for Jesus as my manna?" Ask someone else in your world the same question.
