August 18-24, 2024

This month, we are going to take time to reflect on our Manna Moments.

I have been off for the month of July recovering from a recent surgery. Forced rest is not my preferred activity but I truly felt God's hand upon this surgery - it was fully approved by my insurance, I was out of the hospital faster than expected, I have healed faster than expected, I needed less pain meds than expected, and I have rested better than expected. Hallelujah!

I think the reason why everything went so well was because of what I think I heard God say before my surgery about His manna and because of the prayers of my community. I have learned that God is STILL in the business of healing His people.

What I think I heard God say before my surgery was through a personal devotional I read on manna and two other devotionals I was sent by others on the same topic. I had never really reflected on my own Manna Moments before and now I can't get them off of my mind. I hope the same thing happens for you as you work through these prayer prompts this month.

This week's Bible reading: John 6:48-51

Focus Verse: " I am the living bread that came down out of heaven; if anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread also which I will give for the life of the world is My flesh.” (John 6:51)

Prayer Prompts

Day 1: Do you have family that don't know the Bread of Life? What do you think about their journey? How was it similar to your journey? Our God is patient and understanding. His kindness draws us to repentance. Have you been impatient with someone in your family learning to accept the Bread? Pray for them today!

Day 2: When Jesus came down from heaven, He came to give us eternal life. Forever. This life we live now is just a short dash on the entirety of eternity. How are you living your dash? Ask God to help in areas of struggle. Praise Him for where it's been abundant.

Day 3: What is something you've done that you feel like is too big for Jesus to forgive? Write a prayer of forgiveness today! He died for ALL of it. Nothing is outside of the work of the cross. It is finished! Today!

Day 4: Do you believe Jesus came for the world? That was His plan. Pray for a part of the world today that is hurting.

Day 5: Take some time to imagine your life into eternity. What do you see? Smell? Hear? Taste? Spend some time reflecting on these Manna Moments you will have along the way of eternity.

Challenge: Make some bread this week - for funzies!
