January 19-25, 2025
As we begin a New Year, we all want to create a fresh start or begin a new habit. Did you know that January is the worst time to try to change a routine? Your body and mind are in a season of winter. It’s a time of stillness. Being slow and gentle with yourself is the better choice for this month. You can take inventory and look beneath the surface of life but this month, don’t try to make drastic changes. Your better place is at the foot of Jesus, prayerfully resting, and listening/waiting upon Him.
This week's Bible reading: “But as for me, it is good to be near God; I have made the Lord God my refuge.” (Psalm 73:28).
Focus Theme: Stillness
Prayer Prompts
Day 1 - What does it look like for you to be near God? How do you encounter Him? Spend some time thinking back to where you have experienced His presence the most often.
Day 2 - Why do you think it’s hard to hear God’s voice or feel His presence at times?
Day 3 - When we have the Holy Spirit in us, we can be confident that we are in the presence of God all of the time. He dwells within us. Sometimes, it’s a matter of trusting over how it feels. Journal today by telling yourself the truth about where God is in your story.
Day 4 - This verse says, “ I have made…” In what ways have you taken refuge in other things or people? What causes you to stumble in that area?
Day 5 - He is our refuge because He can handle ALL of your needs. This year hasn’t been off to a good start for me. I have a long list of things that haven’t been going well. But that doesn’t mean that God is not with me. He is near. He has not left me. I will MAKE Him my refuge today and the days to come!
