January 5-11, 2025
As we begin a New Year, we all want to create a fresh start or begin a new habit. Did you know that January is the worst time to try to change a routine? Your body and mind are in a season of winter. It’s a time of stillness. Being slow and gentle with yourself is the better choice for this month. You can take inventory and look beneath the surface of life but this month, don’t try to make drastic changes. Your better place is at the foot of Jesus, prayerfully resting, and listening/waiting upon Him.
This week's Bible reading: “Wait on the Lord, take courage and wait on the Lord” (Psalm 27:14).
Focus Theme: Stillness
Prayer Prompts
Day 1 : Waiting takes discipline. Waiting rooms, waiting in line, waiting for results. All of those periods of time take patience, resistance to jump to conclusions, and hope in good outcomes. What are you waiting on this year? Take note and say a prayer asking God for the long awaited answer.
Day 2: What courage do you need for this year? Where do you get courage from? If God is your source, ask Him to help you. Confidence is in Him!
Day 3: Think about a time when you had courage to say the hard thing. How did it go? What was the result? Is there anyone you need to speak to today?
Day 4: Honoring God takes effort. What do you need to do to create space to honor God this year.
Day 5: The verse says to wait on the Lord twice. Why do you think that is? What is next in your waiting queue?
