March 23-29, 2025

Judges 6 is an epic passage of Scripture that reads like a story. It's a story of faith, testing, and God's presence being made evident in tough circumstances. There are twists and turns and stops and starts. Truly, God's Word is better than any Netflix series. Get excited to learn some new truths from this passage together this month. As we enter into this passage of Scripture, I would encourage you to read the entire passage of Judges 6 upfront. Then, as you come to the verses we look at each week, you will be more familiar with what is happening in the entire passage.

This week's Bible reading: Judges 6

Focus Verses: Judges 6:23-29

Day 1 - Verse 23 - This is one takeaway from the passage that is mind-blowing. In this verse, He gives Gideon His peace, tells him not to fear, and lets him know he is not going to die. Gideon doesn't even know what dangers will come. The Lord knows, and he gives him a promise to hold onto.

Day 2 - Verse 24 - Gideon builds an altar in response to what has happened. He's standing firm on what God gave him - PEACE. What area of your life do you need the peace of the Lord? Ask Him for it and invite Him into the place in your heart that needs it the most.

Day 3 - Verses 25 - 26 - This is the precursor to the work of bringing freedom to the Israelites. They were doing evil in the eyes of the Lord, and they knew His instruction. Tearing down the places of evil is a key step to moving forward in repentance. Remember, the Israelites were crying out, but they were not repentant. They were not listening to God. What areas of your life do you need to explore that need tearing down? Baby steps - today is just about noticing them. You don't have to do anything yet. Just notice.

Day 4 - Verse 27 - Gideon was obedient even though he was afraid. That takes a lot of confidence in the Lord. What are you going to do today even though you are afraid?

Day 5 - Verses 28 - 29 - In the morning, another altar was set up. This one is a new altar on TOP of the old ones serving other gods - those are torn down. This one is the highest altar - above all else. Remember God today and praise Him as your highest altar. Spend some time in worship today and seek to give praise where it is truly due!

Challenge: Take a moment this week to hare where you are in your faith with someone you trust. Share your doubts/fears/hurts and ask for prayer.

You may have to take it all out to put anything back in - like cleaning out your closet. Some things will go straight to the trash. Some things should be considered for donation. And just a few things can go back in your closet if they bring you joy (and not harm to God's work in your life). It's the needed spiritual work we have to do regularly, or it can overgrow. Give that to God this week.
